For the first time in four years, a domestic automaker has regained the top spot as the “Most American.” Check out what other cars made the list.
No. 1: Ford F-150. What’s more American than a pickup truck? Ford’s (NYSE: F) truck, manufactured in Dearborn, Mich., and Claycomo, Mo., took the top spot this year, up from No.2 in 2012. Strong sales and 75% domestic-parts content helped propel this model to the top of the index.
No. 2: Toyota Camry. The Toyota (NSYE:TM) car is manufactured in Georgetown, Ky., and Lafayette, Ind., and dropped one spot this year, after being named No.1 in 2012. (Toyota)
No. 3: Dodge Avenger. Chrysler manufactures this car in Sterling Heights, Mich. This is the first time the car has made the index.
No. 5: Toyota Sienna. Toyota’s second car on the list as the automaker remains the brand with the greatest number of vehicles making the list. Last year, the Sienna ranked No.4. It is made in Princeton, Ind. (Toyota)
No. 6: Chevrolet Traverse. General Motors (NYSE:GM) manufactures this car in Lansing, Mich. The Traverse held its ranking steady at No.6, just as it did in 2012. A 2012 Cars.com study found that only 25% of shoppers actually preferred their car to be made in America.
No. 7: Toyota Tundra. Toyota manufactures this vehicle in San Antonio, Texas. It also ranked No.7 on the 2012 index. (REUTERS)
No. 8: GMC Acadia. The Acadia moves up one spot this year to number eight. This vehicle is made in Lansing, Mich., and Cars.com says the list is an even-split, with five domestic-owned auto makers and five foreign brands on the index.
No. 9: Buick Enclave. This GM car is also made in Lansing, Mich., and moved up one spot on the index from No. 10 in 2012.
No. 10: Toyota Avalon. Toyota’s fourth vehicle on the list is manufactured in Georgetown, Ky.
