We’re highlighting small businesses from around the country as nominated by you, our readers. If your favorite small business is using Twitter to communicate with customers, let us know about it @fbsmallbiz with the hashtag #mysbc, and it may be featured as an upcoming Small Business of the Day.
Small Business of the Day: Office Relief
Who: E-commerce manager Mike Harrell, 33, @office_relief
What: Ergonomically correct office furniture
When: 1991
How: Harrell said Office Relief founder and president Paul Blaubach got the idea to start the business while selling glare screens for computers part-time in the 1990s.
"He was trying to become a fireman, and customers would ask him for (other products) and it grew into what it is today," Harrell said.
Where: San Leandro, Calif.
Biggest lesson learned from a customer: "How to adapt the business—being able to change to meet our customers' demands," he said. "It's not being so rigid. We are willing to make a change to how we do things if a customer is really adamant about having something done a certain way."
