Humana Scoops Up Health-Care Analytics Company Anvita
Humana (NYSE:HUM) has acquired San Diego-based health-care analytics company Anvita Health for an undisclosed amount of money.
The Louisville, Ky.-based insurer, which has been partnering with Anvita since 2010, said the acquisition will help its clients improve health-care quality while identifying “cost savings for individuals and populations.”
The company already uses Anvita to identify members’ gaps in care and drug-safety concerns, Humana said. It uses information generated by Anvita to send automated messages to members, health care providers and its own service associates.
“We’re excited about what this acquisition will mean for Humana health-plan members, health- care providers and employer-customers,” said Humana CEO Michael McCallister.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
In a statement, Humana said Anvita analyzes health data from more sources than any other analysis company. Founded in 2000, the company provides solutions to help improve the quality and lower the cost of health care.
Anvita will continue to operate independently as a subsidiary of Humana.
