'Hey Alexa, Order Me Dinner From Amazon Restaurants'

"Hello, I'm Alexa, and I'll be your waitress this evening."

Amazon's latest Alexa skill will let you order dinner without moving a finger. Those with an Alexa-enabled device and an Amazon Prime membership can order takeout by voice.

If you've ordered from Amazon Restaurants before, simply ask Alexa to do it again; request a particular cuisine type or food from your favorite establishment with a few voice commands.

Say "Alexa, order pizza from Amazon Restaurants" or "Alexa, order Red Robin from Amazon Restaurants," and the smart service will suggest meals based on your history. Confirm the order with a quick "Yes," then wait for fresh food to arrive at your default address within the hour.

Gus Lopez, general manager of Amazon Restaurants, promised "no menu markups and free delivery in one hour or less."

Amazon Restaurants provides free food deliveries from thousands of restaurants in 20-plus US cities. The program debuted in Seattle in the fall of 2015, and is currently available in Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Brooklyn, Chicago, Columbus, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Manhattan, Miami, Minneapolis, Northern Virginia, Orlando, San Diego, San Francisco, and Tampa.

Amazon Restaurants is also up and running across the pond. Hungry users in select London postcodes can now place orders with local restaurants via the Prime Now app.
