Small Business Spotlight:

Who: CEO and cofounder Guillaume Decugis, 14, @scoopit

What: A social media and curation publishing platform for professionals and businesses

Where: San Francisco, Calif.

When: Started in 2010

How: Decugis said the process of creating began nearly two years ago, when the founders were thinking of the different ways professionals use social media. While the answers were obvious—blogging, leadership, traffic generation, promotion and conversation with customers—Decugis said the average professional lacks the time and ability to do so in a streamlined manner.

“Producing valuable content to help you build and market yourself with content is very time consuming,” he said. “It’sjust hard to do. So we decided to solve that problem, with helping small-to-midsized businesses leverage their personal and professional brands.”

The platform allows businesses and individuals to curate content, as well as publish links that pertain to your brand.  The website traffic recently reached five million unique views, Decugis said.

Quote from the owner: “Professionals need to be on social media, so we need to continue to develop our brand and community,” he said.
