Google says it has hired Morgan Stanley's Ruth Porat as chief financial officer

Morgan Stanley's chief financial officer, Ruth Porat, is leaving the New York investment bank for the same job at Google Inc.

She will start at Google on May 26 and will report to CEO and co-founder Larry Page.

Morgan Stanley says Porat's last day will be April 30. She has worked at Morgan Stanley for nearly 30 years.

Google, based in Mountain View, California, says Porat was the lead banker for technology companies that were seeking to raise cash, including Amazon, eBay and Priceline.

She is replacing Patrick Pichette, who announced plans to retire from Google earlier this month.
