Elon Musk: NASA Contract Next Step for SpaceX
SpaceX CEO Elon Musk on partnering with NASA to build space taxis and job creation at the Nevada gigafactory.
NASA’s contract with SpaceX will take the space-transportation company to a new frontier, according to CEO Elon Musk.
In an exclusive interview with FBN’s Liz Claman, Musk called the $2.6 billion contract a “vital step” in SpaceX’s progress.
“It’s about taking astronauts to the Space Station and eliminating the dependency on Russia for transporting U.S. astronauts … For SpaceX, it’s the next step in the technology we’re developing,” said Musk.
Boeing (NYSE:BA) received the lion’s share of the NASA contract, nabbing $4.2 billion, but Musk expressed his confidence in SpaceX’s technology.
“Domestically we have everyone ganging up against us: Boeing, Lockheed and then Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos’ company,” said Musk. He called their banding together a huge compliment to SpaceX.
