Democratic Proposal Would Cut F-35 Funding
A Senate Democratic budget proposal released Friday would eliminate funding for an alternate engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter in a blow to its manufacturers, General Electric Co and Rolls-Royce Plc.
Money for the project has already been stripped out of a budget proposal that passed the House of Representatives last month. The Pentagon has pressed to eliminate the program over the objections of lawmakers who are mindful of the jobs it would provide in their districts.
