A late-September Republican tax proposal called for nearly doubling the basic standard deduction to $12,000 for individuals and $24,000 for married couples. "Trump Seeks Democrats' Help on Tax Overhaul," at 17:51 p.m. ET on Sept. 27, incorrectly said that the deductions would be doubled in the 12th paragraph. (Nov. 8, 2017)
