Cards with Free Credit Scores

Which credit cards come with free credit scores as standard equipment?

The U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced Feb. 27 it is urging major credit card issuers to provide free credit scores and related information to their customers. The information can alert people to identity theft, as well as help them understand their financial standing, the agency said.

Discover Card, Barclaycard US and First Bankcard had already announced programs to share free FICO credit scores and related information with cardholders.

FICO is the owner of the formula used to generate the most widely used credit score. The three-digit number between 300 and 850 is used by lenders to screen applicants for mortgages, car loans and credit cards.

Increasingly, credit scores are also being used by landlords, utility providers and insurance companies to evaluate potential customers.

Here is a rundown of major credit card issuers and the status for their plans to provide free credit scores for customers. This list will be updated as more information becomes available.
