Building Websites in a 'Snap'
We’re highlighting small businesses from around the country as nominated by you, our readers. If your favorite small business is using Twitter to communicate with customers, let us know about it @fbsmallbiz with the hashtag #mysbc, and it may be featured as an upcoming Small Business of the Day.
Small Business of the Day: SnapPages
Who: Founder Steve Testone, 29 @snappages
What: A site that helps other businesses create Webpages
When: 2008
How: Testone had his own Web development company and built sites for different small businesses and nonprofits in his local community, which gave him insight into the struggles these groups had with site creation.
"I had to kind of go in and fix the situation for them," Testone said. "I felt there had to be a better way to do this, because people can't afford to spend thousands on their Web sites. It should be simple to automate and have businesses build themselves."
Where: Austin TX
Biggest lesson learned from a customer: "Building an awesome product is your best marketing tool," Testone said. "Any time we have tried paid advertising it hasn't worked nearly as well as people saying, 'I love your product and am telling all my friends about it.'"
