The defense industry contractor for a variety of systems including shipbuilding and marine systems tops the list of veteran-friendly companies. Average salary: $83,789
BAE Systems
The global defense and security company took home high scores in the categories of work environment and salary. Average salary: $78,659
ITT
The high-technology engineering and manufacturing company scored well in the benefits and growth opportunity categories. Average salary: $70,121
URS
The provider of engineering, construction and technical service scored well across all categories except job security. Average salary: $72,428
L-3 Communications
The company claims to be the sixth largest defense company in the U.S. and received high marks in the categories of compensation and benefits. Average salary: $71,342
Lockheed Martin
The aerospace and defense company performed well in the categories of balancing work and life and many of its workers would recommend the company to others. Average salary: $73,621
Booz Allen Hamilton
The consulting firm received extremely high scores in benefits and was well above average in the employee recommendation category. Average salary: $87,048
Serco
The provider of professional, technology, and management services gear toward the federal government scored well in the benefits and work/life balance categories. Average salary: $56,927
QinetiQ
The defense technology and security company scored well in compensation, but received lower marks in the job security category. Average salary: $78,280
Boeing
The airplane manufacturer lends itself toward veterans and ranks among the top in compensation and growth opportunities. Average salary: $76,784 (Reuters)
