Small Business of the Day: The Shutterbug Eye Photography

Who: Diane Miller, 40, @DianeKMiller

When: 2009

How: Miller began taking photography classes while in high school, and rediscovered her old hobby in 2009, when taking photos at her son's sports events.

"I fell back in love with it," she said. "I started off with an online shop on Etsy.com, but didn't really promote it a lot initially."

Now she continues to run her business on the side in addition to working in compliance for a financial services firm. Her photos and artwork can be found on the Web and at the Cantigny Park gift shop in Wheaton, Ill.

Where: Naperville, Ill.

Biggest lesson learned from a customer: "To follow and focus on the subjects I love," Miller said. "Where my passion is, it comes out in my work."
