Small Business Spotlight: Integral Computer Consultants
Who: Burton Kelso, @IntegralCC
What: Computer repairs and technical support
When: 1993
Where: Kansas City, Mo.
How: While working for a big-box retailer, Burton Kelso says he saw a need for on-site networking for small businesses and computer training for individuals. He started Integral Computer Consultants to do that and more, helping clients with a variety of computer problems or support.
“Our main focus is on-site repair,” Kelso said. “I’ve done a lot of wireless setup and new computers for businesses. We handle anything that has to do with computer repair, troubleshooting or just getting acclimated.”
As technology has advanced, Integral Computer Consultants has expanded its services to include smartphone support and remote troubleshooting.
Kelso has been active in supporting local businesses. He started a “cash mob” movement in his area, organizing a group of people to shop at a mom-and-pop business. He also refurbishes electronics for donations and does pro bono work for those who cannot afford to pay for computer help.
Quote from the owner: “I really believe in giving back to the community. Local business owners have to try to give back.”
