During trade discussions over the weekend, Chinese officials offered to ramp up their purchase of U.S. goods in an attempt to address the massive trade deficit.

The Business Roundtable’s quarterly survey shows sales and spending expectations among CEOs have been tempered, partly due to rising trade tensions between the U.S. and its allies.

While a trade war won’t likely lead to a recession, it would curb global economic growth.
