Nasdaq Closes Higher As Tech Gains For Third Day

The Nasdaq closed higher Tuesday as tech stocks gained for a third day, with the Dow industrials logging a fractional gain and the S&P 500 retreating slightly, as markets digested the release of emails from President Donald Trump's son concerning meetings with the Russians and the Senate delaying its recess to work on key legislation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.55 points to close at 21,409.07, with shares of General Electric Co. and Boeing Co. leading blue chips higher. The S&P 500 index declined 1.90 points, or less than 0.1%, to end at 2,425.53, with only two sectors closing higher, tech with a 0.4% gain, and energy with a 0.5% gain. Financials and telecom led decliners, both with a 0.7% retreat. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed up 16.91 points, or 0.3%, at 6,193.30.
