Dollar General Acquires All 323 Dollar Express Stores

Dollar General Corp. confirmed with MarketWatch on Thursday that it has reached an agreement with Dollar Express LLC to acquire all 323 of its store locations. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. Charlotte-based Dollar Express was created in November 2015 as part of Dollar Tree Inc.'s acquisition of Family Dollar Stores Inc. Dollar Express is part of private equity firm Sycamore Partners' portfolio of businesses. Dollar General shares are down 17.6% for the past year while the S&P 500 index is up 14% for the same period.
