Delta's And Other Airline's Stocks Drop After Immigration Ban Draws Protests At Airports

Shares of Delta Air Lines Inc. slumped 2% in premarket trade, as did the shares of other air carriers, after President Trump tweeted that "big problems at airports were caused by Delta computer outage," and after the executive order to restrict immigration led to protests at airports across the country. On Friday, President Trump signed an executive order to ban refugees from Syria, and to restrict refugees from seven mostly-Muslim countries from entering the U.S., leading to protests at airports. Among other air carriers, shares of American Airlines dropped 2.8%, of United Continental Holdings Inc. shed 1.8%, of Southwest Airlines Co. lost 1.5% and JetBlue Airways Corp. declined 2%. The NYSE Arca Airline Index has soared 43% over the past 12 months through Friday, while the S&P 500 has climbed 18%.
