Captain America: Civil War Notches IMAX Records

Imax Corp. said Monday that Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" had the largest-ever opening for an IMAX May release, making $31.3 million on 955 global IMAX screens, making it the fourth-largest global opening weekend of all time in IMAX. The movie was also the third-best opening for a day-and-date release, including China, the company said. As of early Monday, the movie has grossed $45 million in IMAX globally and $16 million domestically, having been shown on 380 IMAX screens. IMAX said the movie grossed "an astonishing $10 million in three days" in China, with the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Trinidad, Argentina and Turkey also having "notable results this weekend."
