Dreamworks Surges On Double-digit Revenue Growth

DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. shares rallied in Tuesday's extended session after the film studio posted its strongest revenue growth in years. Dreamworks reported it swung to fourth-quarter earnings of $42.1 million, or 48 cents a share, from a loss of $263.2 million, or $3.08 a share, a year earlier. On an adjusted basis, the studio behind films like "The Penguins of Madagascar" would have earned 55 cents a share. Revenue jumped 36.3% to $319.3 million. "DWA delivered its best top line result in 11 years and highest revenue growth in eight years," said Jeffrey Katzenberg, chief executive of DreamWorks, in a statement. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast earnings of 16 cents a share on revenue of $274 million. Dreamworks jumped 9.9% in after-hours trading.
