Urban Outfitters Q4, Full-year Sales Miss Estimates

Urban Outfitters Inc. said Tuesday it had fourth quarter sales totaling $1.01 billion, flat with last year, but just missing the FactSet consensus of $1.02 billion. Same-store sales for the quarter ending Jan. 31 declined 2%, beating the FactSet expectation for a 2.2% decline. Fourth-quarter sales for the Urban Outfitters brand totaled $415.8 million, down from $438.4 million for the same period last year. Anthropologie sales for the quarter totaled $419.1 million, down from $420 million last year. And Free People brand sales fell to $178.5 million from $152.6 million. For the full year, sales totaled $3.4 billion, up from $3.3 billion last year. The FactSet consensus was $3.5 billion. Urban Outfitters will release fourth-quarter and fiscal-year earnings on Mar. 7. Urban Outfitters shares are down 1.3% in after-hours trading. The company's shares are down 35.4% for the past 12 months while the S&P 500 is down 9.5%.
