Maine home sales decline 9.85 percent in November while sales price also slides

Maine home sales dipped 9.85 percent in November while the median sales price dropped 1.43 percent.

The Maine Association of Realtors reports the median sales price for November was $172,500.

The National Association of Realtors reported a nationwide sales increase of 2.4 percent for the same month. The national median sales price rose 5.6 percent to $206,200 in November.

Maine's numbers also lagged behind trends in the Northeast, where sales were up 4.6 percent and the median sales price rose 1.3 percent to $246,100.

Cumberland County was the busiest county in the state for home sales in the fall 2014 quarter. Sales in Cumberland picked up a little more than 12.5 percent in the quarter compared to the same period last year.
