New CEO chosen to lead Atlanta economic development agency

A new CEO has been chosen to take the helm of Atlanta's economic development agency.

Mayor Kasim Reed has named Craig J. Richard as president and CEO of Invest Atlanta and says he brings more than 16 years of economic development and chamber of commerce experience.

Atlanta city officials say Richard previously worked as CEO and president of Greater Louisville Inc. and coordinated 32 projects that created more than 3,800 jobs and $571 million in capital investment.

Richard also has economic development experience with organizations in Houston, Dallas and Arlington, Texas.

Richard earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Houston and a master's degree in urban and regional planning from Virginia Commonwealth University.
