S&P 500, Dow Hit Intraday Record Highs

NEW YORK (MakretWatch) -- The S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average hit fresh intraday highs on Thursday and look set to record their biggest one-day gain in a week. Closing at these levels would mean 41st and 25th record close respectively for the benchmarks this year. Telecoms, technology and consumer discretionary sector stocks were leading the gains on the S&P 500. Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. , Cisco Systems Inc. and Boeing Co. were among top gainers on the Dow Jones Industrial Average. The Nasdaq Composite is trading at the highest level since March 2000.
