Abercrombie tops 2Q net income expectations, misses revenue forecasts

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (ANF) on Thursday reported earnings of $12.9 million in its fiscal second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the New Albany, Ohio-based company said it had net income of 17 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 19 cents per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 10 cents per share.

The teen clothing retailer posted revenue of $890.6 million in the period, falling short of Street forecasts. Analysts expected $917 million, according to Zacks.

Abercrombie shares have risen 34 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 23 percent in the last 12 months.
