Norwegian Cruise Line says it ordered 2 new cruise ships for a total of $2.18B

Norwegian Cruise Line will spend $2.18 billion on a pair of new ships from the German shipbuilder Meyer Weft.

The ships with 4,200 passenger berths each. The first will be delivered in the second quarter of 2018, and the second ship is scheduled to arrive in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. has 13 ships, with two additional vessels on order at Meyer Weft.

The company's shares lost 17 cents to $32.77 in afternoon trading.
