India November Consumer Price Inflation at 15-Month High

India's retail inflation accelerated to the highest in more than an year in November driven by quicker rises in the prices of food and fuel, government data showed Tuesday.

The benchmark consumer-price index rose 4.88% from a year earlier, the highest since August last year and significantly higher than October's 3.58% increase.

Food prices climbed 4.42% from a year earlier, accelerating from a 1.9% rise in October while fuel prices rose 7.92%, quicker than October's 6.36% increase.

The data underscores concerns over intensifying price pressures flagged by the Reserve Bank of India last week and would firm expectations that the central bank won't cut interest rates next year.
