This Bud (and Free Lyft Ride) Is for You

Ride-sharing service Lyft has teamed up with Budweiser to make it easier for imbibing drivers to get a lift home.

Now through the end of 2016, any passenger 21 years or older can get a free ride valued up to $10 from Lyft on weekends and holidays, the companies announced Wednesday. The service will be available in markets where Lyft operates across New York, Illinois, and Colorado, and redeemable between the hours of 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time.

The Lyft partnership is part of Budweiser's #GiveADamn campaign aimed at reducing drunk driving. It's the first partnership between a major beer brand and a ridesharing company.

"At Lyft, we strive to partner with like-minded, mission-driven brands like Budweiser that are committed to building safer communities and a better world," Oliver Hsiang, VP Partnerships at Lyft, said in a statement. "By giving passengers access to free rides each week, we hope everyone will think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking and look to Lyft as a solution."

It's also now easier to get a Lyft from within Google Maps. In March, Google added a ride services tab to Maps offering Uber fare estimates and pickup times, and now it's showing two more options for those in the US: Lyft and Gett. You can compare prices without having to download and open a bunch of different apps, though you'll need the apps downloaded to actually book a ride.
