Amazon Drops First Episode of 10 Series on Facebook, YouTube

In a bid to drum up more Prime subscriptions, Amazon is making the first episodes of 10 original series available for free on Facebook and YouTube.

"Go back to where they all began. Watch 10 Amazon Original Series pilot episodes right here," Amazon says on its Facebook page.

Shows on offer include The Man in the High Castle, Bosch, Red Oaks, Mozart in the Jungle, and Transparent. For the kids, there's Wishenpoof, Just Add Magic, Gortimer Gibbons Life on Normal Street, Annedroids, and Tumble Leaf.

If episode one draws you in, you can subscribe to Amazon Prime for $99 (which also includes free, two-day shipping and a host of other cloud-based services) per year. If you want to binge watch Transparent and be done with Amazon, however, you can always pay $8.99 for one month of Amazon Video access.

Amazon has made some of its content temporarily free in the past, like when Transparent won several Golden Globes last year and Mozart in the Jungle did the same earlier this year. But while its content has been well-received, it's still competing with the likes of Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and other streaming services when it comes to viewers.
