Nab a OnePlus 3 Without an Invite

Exclusivity can be fun, but not when it comes to getting a new smartphone. Which is why OnePlus's next-gen smartphone will be available to all on June 14, no invite required.

Customers can snag a OnePlus 3 during the Loop VR event later this month, or visit the OnePlus website on the same day to place your order.

When OnePlus launched two years ago, it didn't expect that its phones would be in such high demand. Instead of flash sales—"where there's a risk of everything selling out immediately," OnePlus founder Carl Pei wrote in a forum announcement—the team opted for an invitation-based waitlist.

"Some got into a frenzy hunting for invites, while others have complained continuously and loudly ever since," Pei said. Well, everyone can calm down: The OnePlus 3 marks the official end of invites.

"It's a big step for us as a company, our fans, and fellow tech enthusiasts," he continued. "We're proud to have reached a point where we feel confident in making our new device available without invites from day one."

You will need an invitation, however, to participate in the firm's beta test. The OnePlus 3 Peer Review aims to collect "fair, honest, crowd-sourced feedback" about the new flagship phone. Anyone interested in taking the handset for a spin can compete for a spot on the 30-person reviewer team, which will be tasked with taking an in-depth look at the upcoming device and submitting a comprehensive review. As of press time, nearly 12,000 people applied for OnePlus 3 Peer Review; applications close in less than four days.

In the meantime, UK buyers can pick up last year's OnePlus 2 (pictured) on Amazon for £249. The 64GB, unlocked gadget is available online in black; it runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB RAM, a 3300mAh battery, 13-megapixel rear camera, and sports a USB Type-C connector and fingerprint sensor. The OnePlus X will also be on sale via Amazon UK soon, according to Android Central.
