U.S. Stocks Pare Losses At Day's End, Still Down For The Week

U.S. stocks erased losses in the last half-hour of trading on Friday, though the main indexes stayed on track for weekly losses. For most of Friday's session, U.S. stocks have been on track for losses after giving up early-morning gains following weaker-than-expected readings for construction spending and the Institute for Supply Management's manufacturing index. But at last check, the S&P 500 was up 1 point, or less than 0.1%, to 2,060 in 2015's first day of trading, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 30 points, or 0.2%, to 17,853.
