Brent Crude Futures Gain With Equities; North Sea Platform Still Out

Brent crude futures rose in Tuesday morning trading, in line with European equity markets, and as a key North Sea platform remained offline.At 1021 GMT, the front-month April Brent contract on London's ICE futures exchange was up 70 cents at $110.79 a barrel.The front-month April light, sweet crude contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange was trading 31 cents higher at $90.43 a barrel.Europe's financial markets were showing positive signs early Tuesday, ahead of purchasing managers' indexes for the U.K., Spain, Italy, France and Germany that will give clues as to future oil demand.However, the composite Purchasing Managers' Index for the euro zone as a whole, released at 0930 GMT, fell to 47.9 in February from 48.6 in January, showing that activity across the manufacturing and services sectors declined month-on-month.In the North Sea, where the benchmark Brent crude is produced, the Cormorant Alpha platform operated by TAQA Bratani remained closed Tuesday morning.
