Russia Wants To Keep Up G8 Contacts: Report

Russia is still interested in maintaining relationships with the Group of Eight, a Kremlin spokesman reportedly said Tuesday, after other nations in the group canceled a scheduled meeting in Sochi. "The Russian side continues to be ready to have such contacts at all levels, including the top level. We are interested in such contacts," Dmitry Peskov said, Interfax news agency reported. Peskov also said Russia has not received official notice from the G8 of the summit's cancellation, a move seen as effectively removing Russia from the powerful group of industrialized nations. On Monday, Group of Seven leaders said the suspension was due to Russia's "illegal attempt to annex Crimea".Copyright © 2014 MarketWatch, Inc....
