Some Bank of America Corp. (BAC) customers soon will be able to speak with a live teller when using new ATMs that the nation's second-largest bank by assets is rolling out in select markets.The Charlotte, N.C.-based company said Thursday that "teller assist" technology will allow customers to interact with a bank teller through video screens on the machines, which can cash checks for exact amounts and dispense cash in smaller denominations than is typical for most ATMs.The move comes as banks of all sizes are investing in new online and mobile technology that allows customers to conduct basic financial transactions without needing to visit a branch or speak to a teller in person, which are more expensive forms of customer interaction for banks."We know that our customers really want to bank on their schedule ... not our schedule, so we've constantly been looking at how do we deliver more convenient banking," Shelley Waite, ATM channel executive for Bank of America, said in an interview...
