The Powerball lottery drawing on Wednesday night produced two winners of the big prize, one ticket in Arizona and one in Missouri, the lottery operator said. The jackpot, to be split between the two tickets, was an estimated $580 million, media reports say. If the winners choose to take the cash up front instead of over a number of years, the cash value of the jackpot to be split is $380 million. The winning numbers were 5, 16, 22, 23 and 29, and the Powerball was 6. The game requires a player to choose five numbers out of 59 plus one out of 35. Sixty-six people matched five numbers and missed the Powerball. Of these 66 winners, 58 won $1 million each and eight won $2 million because they chose to double the potential prize. The odds of winning the big prize are 1 in 175 million. Each set of numbers costs $2. The biggest lottery jackpot ever was awarded in March 2012: $656 million went to three tickets in the Mega Millions game.Copyright © 2012 MarketWatch, Inc....
