Latam Airlines to Resume Operating Boeing 787s in 'Coming Days'

Latam Airlines Group SA (LFL, LAN.SN) will resume operations of its Boeing Co. (BA) 787 Dreamliners in "coming days," the Chilean holding company said in a statement late Wednesday.In January, Latam Airlines suspended service of its Boeing 787s following a directive from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration after the aircraft presented technical problems with its batteries.The carrier, Latin America's largest by market capitalization, completed a test flight with one of its 787s after making changes to the aircraft's battery system as suggested by Boeing and the FAA."The operation of the aircraft was completely normal. We have complied with all of the required modifications," Ignacio Cueto, chief executive of Latam Airlines' LAN Airlines unit, said in the statement.Latam Airlines was born in June from the merger of Chilean LAN Airlines SA and Brazilian carrier TAM SA.LAN has received three of the 32 jets it ordered.
