The Supreme Court said Monday that it will consider the scope of whistleblower protections written into a 2002 federal law that encourages employees at public companies to report fraud.The case, involving claims made by former employees at Fidelity Investments, was one of three new business cases the high court added to its docket Monday.The justices also agreed to hear a frequent-flyer dispute involving Delta Air Lines Inc.'s (DAL) Northwest Airlines subsidiary and a patent appeal by medical-device maker Medtronic Inc. (MDT).The court will consider the cases during its next term, which begins in October.The justices took the Fidelity case to clarify the meaning of whistleblower protections that were included in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, a 2002 law passed to strengthen corporate governance in the wake of several corporate scandals, most notably at Enron Corp.The protections apply to employees of public companies who report suspected fraud or securities violations to their supervisors or ...
