LAN Cancels Argentina Flights Amid Conflict With Services Company

Chilean flagship carrier LAN Airlines (LFL, LAN.SN) said Friday that all of its Argentine flights have been cancelled because of a conflict with Argentina's state-run ground services company, Intercargo.LAN said it has been unable to fly in Argentina since early Friday because Intercargo stopped offering ramp services, refused to load equipment and declined to transfer passengers on buses to and from LAN's airplanes.The Chilean airline said Intercargo is refusing to comply with its contractual obligations. The companies have a service contract that expires in March 2014, LAN said in a statement."LAN has done everything possible to resolve this situation quickly and is taking measures to ensure that passengers are minimally affected...," the airline said.Intercargo couldn't be reached for comment.Agustin Agraz, a corporate-affairs manager at LAN, said in a television interview that Intercargo was demanding that LAN pay 40 million pesos ($19 million) more than what it owes the company.
