The ongoing financial and economic turmoil has been hammering banks' and insurers' stocks for the last six months, cutting the value of certain shares like UniCredit (UCG.MI) or Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (BMPS.MI) by over 60%. For this reason, on Tuesday Vegas reiterated the need to introduce the passivity rule, or give the companies the possibility to defend themselves in case of a hostile takeover attempt.Shares of UniCredit in particular have been experiencing sudden movements in the last weeks, traders said, noting that speculation the bank may soon be a takeover target continues to circulate.Newspaper website: www.milanofinanza.it-Milan Bureau, Dow Jones News...By James MackenzieROME, Sept 4 (Reuters) - Italy's chaotic efforts to pass a new austerity plan already included disputed figures, policy U-turns and cabinet rows ev...
