Morgan Stanley (MS) said Thomas R. Nides has rejoined the firm, this time as vice chairman, fresh off his stint as Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources in the Obama administration.Mr. Nides, 52, is a former chief operating officer of Morgan Stanley. In his new role, he will focus on Morgan Stanley's clients around the world and advise the firm's senior management on external and government affairs. He joins Morgan Stanley's operating and management committees, reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive James P. Gorman.In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Gorman said Mr. Nides will work with Institutional Securities Group President Colm Kelleher and Global Wealth Management President Greg Fleming on client issues.Mr. Nides, a prominent Democrat on Wall Street, worked for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton from 2011 to early this year.
