Financial regulatory reform implemented after the financial crisis of 2008 has not made a big difference on bank practices, Yucaipa Companies founder Ronald Burkle told institutional investors Thursday. "For most people if you tried to read the earnings report of any major bank today probably it is just as confusing as it was five years ago. And we probably have just as much exposure to what they did as five years ago," Burkle told institutional investors at a conference in Washington. He also pointed to the so-called "London Whale," incident, where J.P. Morgan Chase & Co.'s lost more than $6.2 billion trading credit derivatives, as an example of why he thinks there are still issues at banks.
