Prosecutor Says Made No Decision on Sarkozy Case Yet

The prosecutor overseeing the legal case against former President Nicolas Sarkozy said Friday he has made no decision on the case, denying a report from French newspaper Le Parisien which said he would recommend dropping the charges."The procedure, which includes several thousand documentsÛrequires a detailed analysis," said Bordeaux prosecutor Claude Laplaud in a statement.Le Parisien newspaper reported in its Friday edition that court documents showed the prosecutor in Bordeaux, where the case is being investigated, would recommend closing the formal investigation against Mr. Sarkozy for allegedly abusing the weakness of Liliane Bettencourt, the heiress of the cosmetics group L'Oreal SA (OR.FR).Mr. Sarkozy has denied wrongdoing.The magistrates are looking into whether people in Ms. Bettencourt's entourage abused her ill state to obtain money, paintings or real estate.
