Former RadioShack Corp. (RSH) Chief Executive James F. Gooch earned a nearly $4 million severance payment after leaving the company last year, pushing his total compensation up 16%.Mr. Gooch's overall compensation was valued at $6.8 million last year despite a 25% lower salary payment. The value of his option awards for 2012 slumped to $680,866 from $2.4 million a year earlier, but that was more than offset by a $3.9 million termination payment, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.Mr. Gooch left the Fort Worth, Texas, retailer on Sept. 25 after a little more than a year at the helm. Before that, he served as the company's chief financial officer under former CEO Julian Day.RadioShack has struggled with dwindling revenue over the past two years as more consumers shop for electronics online.
