Europe Stocks Rise In Wake Of Wall Street Gains

European stock markets opened higher on Tuesday, inspired by gains on Wall Street overnight, with oil and bank stocks in the lead.

The Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.9% to 242.24, as shares of Total SA rose 1% and Banco Santander SA gained 1%. The FTSE 100 index rose 1.1% to 5,365.70, led by a 2% jump for Vodafone Group PLC after the mobile phone group reported results. Royal Dutch Shell PLC rose 1.2%, BG Group PLC gained 1% and miner Rio Tinto PLC rose 2.8%.
