Lowe's Slumps On Outlook; American Eagle Jumps

shares slumped 10% to $25.72 on Monday after the second-largest U.S. home-improvement retailer cut its full-year profit outlook. It also said seasonal product demand slowed toward the end of the first quarter. Its larger rival Home Depot Inc. shares were little changed. Avon Products Inc. fell 3.7% after UBS cut its rating on the direct seller of beauty products to sell from neutral. Ross Stores Inc. fell 2.7% and rival TJX Cos. fell 1.1%. Canaccord cut its ratings on both retailers to hold from buy. Among the gainers, teen retailer American Eagle Outfitters Inc. shares jumped 9%. The company said after the close of trading on Friday that it plans to exit its money-losing 77kids children's business. It also said its Chief Financial Officer Joan Hilson was stepping down. Kenneth Cole Productions Inc. shares rose 2%.
