What Distracts Teens Most? Other Teens

Here's a good reason to buy your teenager that little two-seater -- and remove the passenger seat:The odds of a fatal accident double when a teen passenger is riding along, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

With two or more teen passengers, a fatal accident is five times more likely.A pair of new studies conducted by Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and State Farm underlines the threat of distraction from passengers as well as electronics, offering insight on how teen boys and teen girls react differently to each.The researchers discovered that teen drivers carrying peer passengers are much more likely to be distracted before a crash compared to teens driving alone."Among the teens who said they were distracted by something inside the vehicle before they crashed, 71% of males and 47% of females said they were distracted directly by the actions of their passengers," says Dr. Allison E.
