T-Mobile USA Customer Losses Continue to Mount

Mobile USA reported it lost more than a half million of the most lucrative customers in this year's first three months, marking the 15th straight quarter of contract user losses.

The drop puts the carrier further behind AT&T Inc. (T) and Verizon Wireless (VZ) in the race to lock users into two-year commitments and could make T-Mobile's recovery even more difficult after regulators blocked its plan last year to be taken over by AT&T for $39 billion.T-Mobile, the fourth-biggest U.S. carrier, put its strategic plans on hold last year while awaiting government approval of the AT&T deal and watched its subscriber rolls shrink. The Bellevue, Wash.-based company is the largest remaining carrier without the Apple Inc.
