Bulls Sprint Forward on Upbeat Economic News

FOX Business: The Power to ProsperA batch of upbeat economic data helped ease traders' concerns over the strength of the economic recovery, igniting a broad rally. Today's MarketsAs of 3:20 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones Industrial Average jumped 159 points, or 1.3%, to 12,112, the S&P 500 rallied 19.6 points, or 1.5%, to 1,291 and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 43.8 points, or 1.7%, to 2,683. The FOX 50 gained 10.9 points to 906.  Retail sales were down 0.2% in May, a narrower decrease than the 0.4% Wall Street anticipated. Excluding automobiles, sales were up 0.3%, which was inline with analysts expectations.Retailers like Target (NYSE:TGT) and Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT) can be particularly affected by these data. Prices on the wholesale level were up 0.2% in May, slightly higher than estimates of a 0.1% increase.  Prices were up by the same amount excluding the food and energy component, which was in line with expectations.
