Delphi Automotive 1st-Quarter Profit Drops on Europe Weakness

Delphi Automotive PLC's (DLPH) revenue edged lower in the first quarter, hurt by weakness in Europe, but Chief Executive Rodney O'Neal said Wednesday the economically choppy region has continued to show signs of stabilization.Revenue in Europe fell 17% on a constant-currency and acquisition-adjusted basis, primarily as a result of continued weakness in light vehicle production.Delphi was one of the first in the auto industry to call the bottom in the European market after reporting fourth-quarter results in February, though on Wednesday Mr. O'Neal said it's "a very choppy time from a macro perspective, particularly in Europe.""We're not seeing it get any worse sequentially," Mr. O'Neal said after the auto-parts maker reported a 19% drop in first-quarter earnings.The company's outlook for the full-year includes a fairly stable market in Europe, that "won't improve significantly, nor will it have deteriorated," Chief Financial Officer Kevin Clark said.Delphi reiterated its full-year reve...
