HJ Heinz 4Q Net Falls 22%; Scales Back Growth Rates

J. Heinz Co. (HNZ) scaled back its long-term growth rates slightly as the ketchup-maker plans to invest more into its business amid a challenging global environment.Heinz, after reporting a 22% decline in fiscal fourth-quarter profit due to costs related to productivity initiatives, expects adjusted per-share earnings to rise 5% to 8% in fiscal 2013 to $3.52 to $3.62 a share, a cautious view compared with the average analyst estimate of $3.59 a share, according to Thomson Reuters.Shares fell 2% in recent trading to $52.79.Over the next three to five years, Heinz sees earning rising 6% to 9%, getting the company back to previous growth rates after raising its long-term growth rate to 7% to 10% about a year ago.But since then, the outlook for the packaged-food industry has soured.
